Study in Australia from Saudi Arabia
Studying in Australia from Saudi Arabia starts with an offer, then a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), then the Student visa 500 with OSHC, proof of funds and the Genuine Student requirement. The institution decides admission and the Department of Home Affairs decides the visa; Almorad prepares and follows up your file.

Steps to Study in Australia
The general order is admission, then CoE, then visa:
- Decide your level and field: English, vocational, bachelor or postgraduate.
- Choose an institution and course that fit your goal and budget.
- Apply with your academic records and language result if required.
- Receive the offer, then the CoE after you accept it.
- Arrange OSHC, proof of funds and your Genuine Student responses.
- Apply online from outside Australia unless an exemption applies.
- After the decision, arrange housing and travel.
Why Study in Australia?
Study Australia, the government's student site, explains that the Australian Qualifications Framework has 10 levels. A bachelor degree is typically 3 years (4 with honours), a master degree 1 to 2 years, and a doctorate 3 years plus 1 for review.
Academic Year & Intakes
The year runs from February or March to November. Universities usually run two semesters, and some run three trimesters. Mid-year entry starts in July, with applications usually opening around April.
The Student Visa (Subclass 500)
The visa allows study in an eligible course and travel in and out of Australia, for the length of your enrolment. It requires a valid CoE when the application is decided, OSHC for your whole stay unless exempt, and welfare arrangements for applicants under 18.
Study Australia states visa fees start from AUD 2,500 for applications from 1 July 2026 unless exempt. New rules start on 2 October 2026 for applying from inside Australia and including family members, so check the official page before any decision.
The Genuine Student Requirement
It applies to applications lodged on or after 23 March 2024 and assesses whether you genuinely intend to study. Your answers cover your circumstances, why you chose the course and institution, and how the study benefits your future.
Costs and Financial Capacity
You must show enough money for your stay; the visa amount is a minimum and real costs can be much higher depending on the city. The exact amounts appear in the Gather Documents step of the official visa tool. Do not rely on work to cover living costs.
Working While Studying
The general limit is 48 hours per fortnight during study, with no cap during official course breaks; research master's and doctoral students have no limit. Work is extra income, not a replacement for proof of funds.
- English language: check course length and linking to a later course.
- Vocational training: check course approval and occupation requirements.
- Bachelor: check entry requirements, language result and fees.
- Research master and PhD: check supervisor and research area.
After Study
The Temporary Graduate visa (485) requires being 35 or under (exceptions apply), holding a Student visa in the last 6 months and a recent qualification from a CRICOS-registered course. The higher-education stream gives between 2 and 3 years depending on the qualification; the vocational stream gives up to 18 months.
Checklist Before You Choose a Course
Before you accept an offer and pay any fee:
- Is the course registered and suited to your level and language result?
- Does your budget cover tuition and living costs in your city?
- Do you understand course length, breaks and what they mean for work?
- Have you prepared your Genuine Student responses and documents?
- Have you reviewed the updated visa rules on the official page?
