Brazil Visa for Residents of Saudi Arabia: Who Needs One

Brazil does not treat every traveller from Saudi Arabia the same way. The first question is the nationality on your passport, not the country where you live. This guide explains who needs a visa and who is exempt, how a resident of Saudi Arabia applies through the Brazilian embassy in Riyadh, and what the official pages do not state.

We write this guide at Almorad, a visa office in Riyadh, and we review every point before we publish it.

We checked the sources below in October 2026. The Brazilian foreign ministry table we used was updated on 26 August 2026. Contact us to confirm the latest updates before you apply or book, because rules can change.

Is your file ready to submit?

Most refusals come from one small detail in the file. Send us your destination and travel dates and we will review your documents before you apply.

Do You Need a Visa for Brazil?

It depends on your nationality. According to the visa regime table of the Brazilian foreign ministry, Saudi citizens need a visit visa (VIVIS), while holders of some other passports are exempt for up to 90 days.

NationalityStatus in the official table (updated 26 August 2026)
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, OmanVisit visa required
Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, India, PakistanVisit visa required
United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Türkiye, Philippines, MoroccoVisa exemption for a period not exceeding 90 days

These are selected examples, not the full list. If your nationality is missing, open the official table and read its footnotes, because some nationalities are limited to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Is There an E-Visa for Residents?

The e-visa is limited to passport holders of Australia, Canada and the United States, according to the Brazilian consulate in Miami. The Brazilian embassy in Manama states explicitly that other nationalities are not eligible.

So the e-visa platform does not apply to Saudi citizens or to most residents of Saudi Arabia. If an unofficial website charges you for a "Brazil e-visa", first confirm that your nationality is actually eligible.

How Do Residents of Saudi Arabia Apply?

The Brazilian embassy in Riyadh takes applications through the e-consular platform rather than walk-ins. The embassy e-consular portal stresses that you should not visit the embassy or send documents until you are asked to.

  1. Create an account on the platform with a GOV.BR account or an email address.
  2. Choose the right service and fill in the required details.
  3. Upload photos or scans of your documents.
  4. Wait for the embassy staff to review the file. The portal says this takes 2 to 5 business days depending on the service.
  5. After review, choose an in-person appointment or sending by post or courier where the service allows it.

For questions, the embassy publishes its official email, consular.riade@itamaraty.gov.br, on the same portal.

Documents, Fees and Processing Time

The foreign ministry page on visas for foreigners says an application includes the visa request form, a valid travel document, proof of payment of the consular fee, the international immunization certificate when needed, and documents specific to the visa type. The detailed list appears inside the platform when you pick the service.

On duration, the embassy in Manama describes the VIVIS visit visa as covering a stay of up to 90 days for tourism, business or other purposes, without paid work in Brazil.

The official pages we opened do not show the visit visa fee or its validity for the Riyadh embassy, so we do not quote a number. The Brazilian embassy in Doha publishes a standard processing time of 45 working days and warns of possible delays. That is an example from another embassy, not a promise for Riyadh. Check the fee and timing inside the platform before you book your trip.

From What We Prepare at Almorad

This is Almorad practice, not an official Brazilian requirement. When we prepare a Brazil tourist visa file, we usually gather the following:

  • A passport with enough validity beyond your return date, usually six months.
  • The national ID for Saudis, or a valid residence permit for non-Saudis.
  • Recent photos that meet the authority's specifications.
  • A recent bank statement and evidence of income and ability to cover expenses.
  • A letter from your employer, or proof of business activity or study.
  • A trip plan or a tentative flight and accommodation booking, with certified translation of Arabic documents when requested.

We review the file with you before it is uploaded and book the appointment where needed, and the final decision always rests with the embassy. For more on the file itself, read our guide to bank statements, employment letters and salary certificates, and see when to apply for a visa before you travel to time your application.

If you are planning the trip itself, read our guide to travelling to Brazil from Saudi Arabia. To compare visa categories, see the difference between visa types.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Saudi citizens need a visa for Brazil?

Yes. The official table updated on 26 August 2026 lists Saudi Arabia among the nationalities that need a visit visa. Check it again before you apply, because policy can change.

Can I get a Brazil e-visa from Saudi Arabia?

No, unless you hold an Australian, Canadian or US passport. According to the Brazilian embassy pages, those are the only eligible nationalities.

Where do I apply if I live in Riyadh?

Through the e-consular platform of the Brazilian embassy in Riyadh. Do not go to the embassy or send papers until the platform asks you to.

How long does it take and how much does it cost?

The official pages we reviewed do not publish a confirmed figure for the Riyadh embassy. Check the platform before applying, and avoid non-refundable tickets until you know when the decision will come.

Am I exempt if I hold an Emirati or Qatari passport?

According to the official table, yes, for a period not exceeding 90 days. A resident of Saudi Arabia with another nationality follows the rule for that nationality, not for the country of residence.
