Thailand 7-Day Itinerary: Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket
Seven days is enough to combine a big city, the northern mountains and the southern islands, as long as you do not cram everything into each day. This plan is a practical suggestion built on destinations that the Tourism Authority of Thailand highlights. It is not an official TAT itinerary, so adjust it to your season and budget.
If you are planning a tourist visa or want the whole trip arranged, Almorad, a visa office in Riyadh, can help you prepare your file before you travel.
Is your file ready to submit?
Most refusals come from one small detail in the file. Send us your destination and travel dates and we will review your documents before you apply.
Check your file on WhatsAppVisa servicesBefore You Book: Entry Requirements
As we explain in our article Do You Need a Visa for Thailand From Saudi Arabia, since 15 September 2026 Saudi citizens are among the nationalities exempt from a visa for 30 days, and you must complete the TDAC electronic arrival card before arrival. These rules can change, so contact us to confirm the latest updates before booking.
The Seven-Day Plan
Days 1 to 3: Bangkok
On its Bangkok destination page, TAT highlights historical and religious sites including Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, the Golden Mountain and Chatuchak Weekend Market. Give one day to the temples and palace area, one to markets and neighbourhood walks, and keep one flexible for rest or a nearby trip.
Days 4 and 5: Chiang Mai
Travelling from Bangkok to the north is usually done by domestic flight, so check schedules when you book. TAT lists Phra That Doi Suthep, Thapae Walking Street, Doi Inthanon (the highest point in Thailand) and Nimmanhaemin Road on its Chiang Mai page. One day suits the old city and the temple, and one the mountains and nature.
Days 6 and 7: Phuket or Krabi
Pick one of the two so the days are not lost to transfers. For Phuket, TAT's things to do in Phuket lists Old Phuket Town with its Sino-Portuguese architecture, Promthep Cape, Wat Chalong and Patong Beach. For Krabi, its official page highlights Railay Beach, Phra Nang Cape and the Phi Phi Islands, reached by ferry from the Ao Nang area.
Halal Food and Prayer During the Trip
TAT has published a guidebook called Thailand Muslim Friendly Destination which, by its own description, features halal restaurants, mosques and suitable accommodation. We did not verify details for any specific city, so keep a copy of the guide and check places before you go. TAT also notes that Old Phuket Town reflects Chinese, Indian, European and Muslim influences in its food and culture.
Tips for Planning the Trip
- Do not plan more than one main destination per day.
- Book domestic flights after fixing your overall route.
- Choose the beach by season, and see our article Best Time to Travel to Thailand.
- Keep copies of your bookings and travel insurance with you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 7 days enough for Thailand?
It is enough to see three regions at a reasonable pace, but it will not cover everything. For a more relaxed trip, limit it to two destinations.
Do I need a visa for Thailand from Saudi Arabia?
According to our entry requirements article, there has been a 30-day exemption for Saudis since 15 September 2026, together with the TDAC card. Verify on the official source before you travel.
Can I combine Phuket and Krabi on the same trip?
It is possible but costs travel time. In seven days we suggest choosing one of them.
Do temples have a dress code?
Temples are places of worship, so modest clothing is best when visiting. Check the instructions at each site on arrival.
